Volunteers Contribute to BC Games Success

It’s team effort in sport and in volunteering. With over 20 sports venues and over 2,000 participants to feed and accommodate, the BC Winter Games depends on thousands of volunteers to keep every running smoothly.
The communities of the Kimberley and Cranbrook with less than 30,000 people signed up 3,000 volunteers which represents approximately 10% of the population.
“Volunteers were excited and very eager to sign up for the Winter Games,” says Linda Engels, one of the Games volunteer chairpersons. “People in Cranbrook and Kimberley wanted to be part of the BC Winter Games and were ready to help out anyway they could.”
Thousands of volunteers included everyone from venue hosts and food service helpers (see photos above) to result centre tabulators.
The volunteers will be recognized for their outstanding contributions at a volunteer appreciation event at 4:00 pm on Sunday at the Cranbrook Rec Plex.
