Kootenay finishes third in Pool A

Cranbrook, BC - Zach Perehudoff of Trail stopped all 24 shots he faced as Zone 1 – Kootenay defeated Zone 6 Vancouver Island 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the BC Winter Games in Cranbrook. Troy Petrick of Nelson opened the scoring for Kootenay after a scoreless first period to give the Kootenay squad a 1-0 lead after two. Aaron Hadley of Castlegar added some insurance early into the final frame to give Kootenay a 2-0. Late in the game Tryg Strand of Invermere added Kootenay’s third goal to make the final 3-0.

Sean Macquire of Powell River stopped 19 of 22 shots in taking the loss.
Kootenay and Vancouver Island both finish the round-robin portion of the tournament at 1-2, along with Zone 8 – Cariboo. Fraser Valley, at 3-0, finishes first in Pool A. The tie-breaking formula, based on goals for and against because Kootenay, Vancouver Island and Cariboo all finished at 1-2, places Vancouver Island in second, Kootenay in third and Cariboo in fourth.
