Kimberley Alpine Resort gets ready for BC Games
Kimberley Alpine Resort has been a flurry of activity over the past few weeks as volunteers prepare the ski hill's Dreadnaught Run for the BC Winter Games."There are all these preparations that come into play," said Brian Bedell, the president of the Kimberley North Star Racers, "mainly preparing the course itself, through grooming and snowmaking."
Volunteers with the North Star Racers—the local ski club that is in charge of preparations—have also erected safety netting all along the length of the run, which will feature giant slalom, slalom and combined events.
The preparations needed to get ready for a competition are nothing new for Kimberley alpine enthusiasts; the resort has hosted several major competitions over the past few years, such as last year's Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Championships.
